Texas State University

From 2015-2017 I worked in the Texas State University marketing office as the university’s first full-time social media manager. During that time, I oversaw the university’s flagship social channels, building strategy, creating content, and laying the foundation of establishing robust and engaging social networks for the university. During my time at Texas State University I was able to:

  • Establish the @TXST name as part of the overall university brand.

  • Create a social media specific style guide for all university channels to follow

  • Conduct regular training sessions for lower-level social media admins running smaller departmental accounts

  • Protect Texas State University’s brand identity by working with university attorneys to shut down accounts that were impersonating Texas State’s brand and using the school’s trademarks.

  • Integrate social media into the university’s crisis communication plan and oversee social media crisis comms during two major flooding events and other major crises…including a cow getting loose on campus.

  • Worked with university marketing to design and create a @TXST sign. A six foot three dimensional mobile activation used to drive user-generated content at university events.

  • Greatly increased followers and engagement rates for all social media accounts and Awarded Silver for Best Higher Education Social Network of the Year from the Council of Support and Advancement of Education Region 4 for the university’s Instagram account.
